President of Uzbekistan received the Minister of Agriculture of Russia

On September 25, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev, who is in our country on a working visit on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. 

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state noted with deep satisfaction that regular contacts at the highest level ensured the dynamic development and further strengthening of relations of strategic partnership and alliance, as well as expansion of mutually beneficial practical cooperation in various spheres, including agriculture. 

The nomenclature and volumes of supplies from Uzbekistan of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products to the Russian market are increasing according to the “green corridor” between our countries. Russian organizations and companies are actively participating in the annual international fruit and vegetable fair held in our country. As a result of this fair that was held earlier this month, export contracts at the amount of more than 500 million dollars were concluded with them. 

Joint programs and projects are being implemented in the agro-industrial complex, fruitful interaction between scientific institutions and higher educational institutions of the two countries is being carried out, including on issues of selection and seed production, as well as development of intensive horticulture and greenhouses. 

At the meeting, special attention was paid to issues of creating favorable conditions and a modern trade and logistics infrastructure for increasing the volume of mutual deliveries of agricultural products. 

The importance of strengthening cooperation and creating joint ventures in the agrarian sector, including the production of veterinary drugs and diagnostic tools, as well as in issues of training qualified specialists for the industry, was noted. 

The Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation expressed his gratitude to the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. 

Alexander Tkachev noted the interest of the Russian side in developing full-scale and mutually beneficial practical cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of agriculture.
